And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, Which shall stand for an ensign of the people: To it shall the Gentiles seek: And his rest shall be glorious.
Song of Solomon 6:9
My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her.
It is good to be in the House of the Lord. It is Sunday and it is always good to come into the Lord’ House and worship God and learn and serve the Lord. Praise the name of the Lord. I know that in the day and hour that we’re living in, people have a tendency to let the desires of their flesh come before their desire of the Will of God. I have been asked to preach this message for people and I want to do it. I have a question or two I want to ask, “What is the fourth oldest sin the world has known?”
I want you to pray for me because this is a message that is definitely needed. I have spent a lot of time talking to the Lord, asking for His help and what He wanted to do because there are people today that do not know. They’re not being taught and they want to know because they want to escape Hell.
Luke 16:16-21—The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. And it is for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
There was a certain rich man who fared sumptuously every day. He was clothed in purple, fine linen and had everything. There was a certain beggar who was laid at his gate full of sores and desired the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. I want you to catch this vision. It will be important to you. The dogs had mercy on him and come and licked his sores. He desired the crumbs and dogs came and licked his sores.
Luke 16:22-23—And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
And in Hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments. My question is this, “If a person dies and goes to Hell, does he burn inside as well as outside?” The rich man also died and was buried. And in Hell he lifted his eyes, being in torment, and seeing Lazarus afar off in the bosom of Abraham. People say today that Hell is beneath the earth. Is that true? Where is Hell? “It’s down below, right? Come on, folks, Hell is down below.” If you die and go to Hell are you burning inside as well as outside? How do you know?
Luke 16:24, 26—And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Notice the position of Heaven and Hell. He looked across a great Gulf and could see into Heaven and Abraham could see into Hell. My point is this, your Tongue. Your Tongue, the rich man’s tongue was the one thing above all the rest of his body, his tongue. And the rich man seeing Lazarus afar off saying, “Father Abraham, send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue.”
Today people say if you preach this, you’re going to have problems. If you preach that, you’re going to have problems. You can’t say this and you can’t say that. Remember it was Christ’s tongue that brought Him to the cross. Somebody didn’t like His Words!
Ole Herod made a mockery but Herod died when worms broke out and ate him alive. Read Acts 12 it will show you what happens when people stand in the way of the Doctrine of this Word. Your Tongue! Your Tongue! Peoples tongue brings the curse of the Lord down upon them. If you don’t like any message in this Bible, keep your mouth shut. Stay out of God’s way and you might last awhile.
I say this because it is the tongue that tries to prevent eternal Life. As it was with Christ, so it was with the Prophet. As it was with the Prophet, so it was with the Apostle. People despise the Word and the Fear of God and God cuts them off. Like the rich man, he wanted water for his tongue. His tongue is what got him there. I want you to remember the tongue.
Genesis 2:21—And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And the Lord God brought a deep sleep upon Adam and he slept. Did you know this method is still used to this day? You go into the hospital for an operation and they put you asleep. You don’t know anything. You don’t feel any pain neither did Adam. The medical world got this from God Himself. While ole Adam slept God opened his side, took out a rib and closed the flesh.
Genesis 2:22—And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
You see, God intends for the man and the woman to marry. God don’t mean for men and women to marry over and over. He made Adam but one wife. He didn’t have but one husband for Eve. A rib is all He took.
Genesis 2:23—And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Now Adam sees the woman that God brought to him and said, “She shall be called Woman because she came out of Man.” How did he know that? Then Adam said, not God but Adam said, “This is now bone of my bones”, how did he know God did that? He was asleep, a deep sleep. “And flesh of my flesh.”
Genesis 2:24—Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Therefore shall a man leave his father, whom Adam never had, and his mother, whom Adam never had. And shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh. Eve had no father and no mother. How did they know what a father or a mother would be or was? Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife. There is no “S” on Wife! And shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh. All of that sounded good to ole Adam but it doesn’t sound good for the world today.
What is the oldest sin on earth? DISOBEDIENCE! The same man and his wife both ate of the forbidden fruit and were driven out of the Garden. The second oldest sin is MURDER! The third oldest sin is LYING! What is the forth-oldest sin? ADULTERY!
Genesis 4:19, 23-24—And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah. And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt. If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
Ole Cain’s grandson, Lamech. Took unto him two wives. Ole Lamech said, “Hearken unto me, ye wives of Lamech.” If Cain shall be avenged seven times, surly Lamech shall be avenged seventy times seven. His sins had grown. His first wife was named Adah and his second wife was named Zillah. From that day every name in the alphabet (A-Z) for man and woman has seen too many wives and too many husbands. Ole Cain said, I killed a man and a young man to his wounding.
So if Cain is to be avenged seven times surly Lamech sins are far more because he knew he had taken a wife more, the one he was supposed to have done. Adah was his first wife. He should have stuck with her but he didn’t. He went all the way through the alphabet to Zillah then he had to confess his sin. If ole Cain is to be avenged seven times surly Lamech should be avenged seventy times because his sin was multiplying. How much more does not sin multiply when you keep adding sin to sin?
Genesis 5:24—And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Ole Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam. Ole Enoch Feared God, served God, and walked with God, and one-day ole Enoch walked away with God. He was a Holy and Righteous man. He loved God. He feared God, and he served God. Yes, people could get Salvation. Ole Adam knew that Eve was taken out of him. He knew that was his wife. She knew that ole Adam was her husband. These people began to marry more wives then what God provided. Don’t say anything about ole Enoch. He served and feared God. People could walk with God but he walked away with Him. He was and he was not. God translated him.
Genesis 6:2—That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
When men began to multiply upon the earth, the Sons of God, who are the Sons of God? They were Holy people. They were Holy men. There were giants in the land in those days. When the Sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair, that means white and pretty, they went unto them and took them wives. When they did they angered God for they sinned. No more were they mentioned. They say, “How do you know they were Holy men? How did they become the Sons of God?” Did you ever read 1 John 3? Now we know we are the Sons of God. What made us the Sons of God? The same God that made us His Sons made them His Sons! They backslid over wives.
And God said, it repented me that I have made man, I will destroy. What made God chose ole Noah? To keep seed upon the earth that God loved and made. I want to tell you a little bit about ole Noah. He didn’t just happen to be the man God chose to build the Ark. It was because ole Noah was a Perfect man. Guess how many wives he had? Guess how many wives his sons had? There were giants in the land but they didn’t help Noah work on the Ark. And those that use to be sons of God didn’t come by and help.
Genesis 6:8—But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
God told ole Noah to build an Ark. I will destroy man because of the disobedience. Ole Noah had this same woman. She bore him three sons. He still had her. The sons went and got them each a wife and they still had her. God said to ole Noah that man’s days shall be one hundred and twenty years and the floods will come, build the Ark! Ole Noah got it done in the same rim of time. But he still had the same wife. Ole Shem, Ham, and Japheth, they all had the same wife. The world was in prosperity. Jesus said they married wives until the day that Noah entered into the Ark and the flood came and took them all away. Now that Jesus Christ is on the earth people don’t like His Words.
Matthew 19:3-5—The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
The Pharisees came unto Him saying, “is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause” tempting him. Is it lawful, yea? We believe it is but is it lawful? For we have been doing it ever since Moses told us to. Now Jesus, is it lawful? They just knew they had Him because Moses said it. But Moses wasn’t God! Jesus said like Adam. God made a male and a female and said, “so shall a man leave Father and Mother and cleave unto his wife and they two shall be one flesh.” You mean, that’s right, one flesh, one man for one wife and one wife for one husband. How many Adams did He make? How many Eves? One rib. And they twain or two shall be one flesh.
Matthew 19:6-9—Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He said unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Now God joined them together and told ole Adam what to say and Adam ministered his vows to his wife. These were the vows, the covenant that Adam made to his wife. That covenant is what made her his wife. Not just because God took the rib and made him a woman. Vows had to be exchanged. These vows that Adam made, Jesus is now relating to them.
“What God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Now wait a minute, Jesus. Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement and to put her away? Jesus said, “because of the hardness of your hearts Moses suffered you”, Moses did, “but from the beginning it was not so.” Moses suffered you, never said God did, Moses did. Moses gave you that precept but the God that made them, made them a man, a woman. Ole Adam had to give these vows. God didn’t make them, Adam did! And man still today makes the vows.
God honors that True Marriage! I wanted you to know how ole Adam could do it. He never knew a father. He never knew a mother. She never knew a father. She never had a mother. God made him know what happened. Remember, a deep sleep comes upon Adam and while this operation was being done, he slept. Not God but Adam made his own vows otherwise God would have to marry you to your wife or husband. Man is supposed to give this covenant but it is held before God to this very day.
And I say unto you, you’re going to like this. I just know you’re going to enjoy this. Jesus said, And I say unto you, “Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeh adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery”. What if I catch her with another man? He’s fornicating with my wife! No, that’s just whoremongering.
Fornication is when you put him or her away and then your marry somebody else that never had a wife or husband. They become a Fornicator and she remains or he remains to be an adulterer. The man that marries somebody else’s wife or husband is fornicating. “Well, I caught them out together and they were fornicating”. No, they’re whoremongers. You married somebody else’s wife or husband and you never had one or yours died. You become a fornicator and they remain to be an adulteress because they have divorced their wife or husband. Somebody else that doesn’t have a wife or husband marries what is put away. Jesus said it this away:
Matthew 5:28-30—But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
You’re really going to like this one. But I say unto you, “Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” And Jesus said, “And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out and cast it away from thee.” What? You want me pluck out my eyeball? Christ had the answer for why you should. For it is better that one member of your body perish than for the whole ole rich man to wakeup in Hell begging for water.
That’s why I wanted you to know that ole boy got hot inside and out. His tongue, he rattled his tongue too much! And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off! “You want me to cut my right hand off?” You better do something about fixing that hand and that eyeball. The whole rich man was in the flame! Is the inside of that man still hot? Are you going to burn inside and out? Jesus said:
Matthew 5:31-32—It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
It had been said, now look, lots have been said, everybody has something to say on this subject and I want to be heard. Everybody is talking about it and everybody has something different. This is why Jesus said it this away. It hath been said, “Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement,” prove that I got shed of her.
You know Jesus also said, “What God has joined together let not man put asunder”. How about these people in positions that grants divorces when no man has the Right or Power. A fornicator can get a divorce from another man’s wife or husband and go and get his or her own wife or husband. It is legal before God because you have married somebody else’s flesh. That makes you a fornicator if you have no wife or husband and never have had or she is or he is dead. Now you are free to go and get another wife who has no husband, you can do that. You can give her or him back to his wife and go get your own. Not running around and sleeping here and there with this man and that man, that’s not fornication, that’s lust and whoredom.
Fornication can only come from an individual who has no wife, never, or his wife or husband are dead and they go and marry somebody who is divorce. That’s what Christ said here concerning Adultery and Fornication.
Mark 10:11-12—And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
Christ had His mouth full of lust, whoredom, and every kind of act. His Words were made plain. And He said unto them, “Whosoever,” don’t matter who you are, “whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery, and if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.” So it isn’t just one sided. Here comes Paul. I know you don’t want to hear him, either. No, you don’t want to hear him. It gets him stoned and beat up.
1 Corinthians 7:1-2—Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
The Church at Corinth wrote unto ole Paul, they were afraid to marry. They were afraid to fool with any woman. They wrote ole Paul and he is answering them here. Concerning the letter that you wrote unto me, “it is good for a man to touch a woman”. They got scared. A little bit of fear might help today. A little bit of fear might help a whole lot. If I ever get shed of her, but you don’t know she may be saying the same thing, if I ever get shed of him. These people got scared and said, “I don’t think I’ll marry anybody”. They wanted ole Paul to tell them what to do here. They had questions he had answers.
Now concerning this problem everybody seems to have today. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, and if every man keeps his own wife, and every woman keeps her own husband, there would be no fornication. There could not be. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own and not somebody else’s. And let every woman have hers and not somebody else’s. “To avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and every woman have her own husband.” Then you won’t have fornication. Well, you still have lust. God has an answer for whoredom too.
1 Corinthians 7:3-4—Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
Let the husband, you see, when you get married, you’re not your own anymore, you belong to your husband. When you get married, you’re not your own anymore, you belong to your wife. You and your wife have to keep the marriage, you are no more yours. How do people expect to keep a marriage? What did you get married for? Were you that big of a fool to understand nothing? Does God have to tell you everything?
I don’t believe He told Adam. Adam knew his wife. He sure learned a lot quickly. So you’re a husband and you are no more your own but you have to render benevolence unto your wife, and she likewise. “I have a headache.” The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband, and likewise also the husband hath not power of his body, but the wife. You say that won’t stop people from divorcing. Why wouldn’t it? Who wrote divorce? It wasn’t God.
If I go out and find a woman and live with her until she becomes my wife under the common law thing. We made no vows. We got married under the common law thing. I stayed with her for six months or more until she became my common law wife. Without Vows time doesn’t make the change. You just had lust. Like ole Moses, he wrote a bill. Everybody writes a bill that wants to write one but it takes vows to make a man a husband. It takes vows to make a woman a wife. It takes Vows to make a Fornicator; otherwise you’re just a whoremonger. You have to have Vows!
1 Corinthians 7:10-11—And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
And unto the married I command, not me, the Lord, yet not I, but the Lord. Let not the wife depart from her husband, but if she depart, let her remain unmarried. “No! I’m not staying unmarried. I can get me a new husband.” Or be reconciled with her husband? “I’m not taking him back! I’m not having her back!” No matter what sin gets you into the Pit, you’re there to burn forever.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20—Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Flee fornication! Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. “How do I do that?” While you are over there with somebody else’s wife or husband, you don’t have the freedom or the liberty to find peace for your soul’s Salvation because you have bound yourself in sin. Know you not that the Holy Ghost is not going to dwell in a fornicator? Don’t you know that you’re the Body of the Holy Ghost, that you have a God in you and you’re not your own? You are bought with a price! Therefore Glorify God, get away from fornication and adultery. Then you can Glorify God Righteously and your Spirit will be right. That Spirit belongs to God and it is going back to God to be judged for the acts and sins committed in this flesh.
And unto the married I command, yet not I, not I but the Lord commanded this. Let not the wife depart from her husband! I don’t care what your excuse, reason or problem is. But if she does anyhow, let her remain unmarried or go back to that same old problem, and let the husband not put her away! She comes back home and you take her back. Remember, she’s your bone; she’s your flesh. You made her vows and she made yours. You’re no more two but one flesh.
I started off talking to you about a man in Hell. He didn’t help the poor old beggar but now he’s begging. Hell is up there even with Heaven. Hell is another world. There’s a vast emptiness but Hell is not down under the earth, it’s up there in another world. They could look across at each other and no doubt still can. How would you like to burn forever because you could not leave Lust alone?
Revelation 21:8—But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Listen carefully. “But the Fearful”, that’s folks that fear. They say, “I’m not going to serve God. How do I know I’ll still make it? I’d give God my life but I’m afraid if I make a mistake God will cast me into Hell anyhow.” That’s fearful! People who are fearful about serving God. They are afraid that God is unreliable. God has never lied!
The fearful is twin brothers to the UNBELIEVERS. That’s right, his twin is the unbeliever. “I just don’t believe. I don’t see it.” You don’t have to see everything. Don’t expect to see everything, you have to learn something first. Remember, you are over there with the fearful. “I just don’t see that.” The ole rich man didn’t see over into Heaven until he got to Hell. He never saw Heaven until he got to Hell. “I don’t believe that ole Beggar has anything. If he really did something for God, God would pick him up, heal his sores, give him a good job and let him work for a living.” That ole beggar laid there, as a Testimony against the ole rich man. The old rich man didn’t have enough sense to know it.
He didn’t see the reality of the Spiritual thing, but he saw one thing. He saw that he was tormented in the flames; he saw his tongue was parching. All he wanted was one little drop of water. Ask yourself; “Does an individual in Hell burn inside and out?” The Fearful will be there with the ole rich man. The Unbeliever will be there with the ole rich man.
The ABOMINABLE, now what is that? Everything God is, you’re against. Everything God said, you’re against. You become an abomination! An abomination under God! The abominable, one sin brings another and another sin brings another. Notice how quick ole Lamech’s sins grew from having two wives and killing a man. He was to be avenged seventy time seven and he knew he would be.
And MURDERERS, now here is a good one, And WHOREMONGERS. “God wouldn’t send a whoremonger to Hell! God wanted me to have a good time.” Murderers, whoremongers, now here is a bad looking fellow, SORCERERS, and IDOLATERS, here is a big Devil. Fearful, you can’t take God at His Word? You can’t believe the Truth? You bring down the abomination of God upon yourself. You murder either physically or Spiritually. If you don’t like God and this Word of God, keep your mouth shut. Maybe you won’t find your tongue on fire. If you don’t like the Lord then leave Him alone. Stay away from His Doctrine.
And all LIARS, it doesn’t make any difference how well you can lie against this Doctrine, this Bible, this Word. It doesn’t make any difference who you lie to. A lie is a lie! All of these shall have their part in the lake. “Where? You mean down there with the rich man. What? With fire and brimstone. You mean if I have somebody else’s wife or husband I’m going to burn down there with the rich man. God wants me to have fun. You mean I’m going to burn if I don’t believe God.”
Remember, if you don’t have Faith, you’re going to miss Heaven. Did you know ole Enoch walked away with God because he had Faith? Do you know that ole Noah built that Ark by Faith? He kept that same ole wife but he built that Ark by Faith. Too many people get offended with the written Word that is preached. They want to rise up and run their mouth against God and get cut off! They find themselves in the pit. One of your torments is that you can look over into Heaven but that’s all you’re going to get. No, Hell isn’t under the earth, it’s up.
